Glasgow's Transforming: Glasgow Science Festival 2024
Glasgow Science Festival kicks off tomorrow (6 - 16 June 2024), with the theme "Glasgow's Transforming". We've had a browse through the programme, and picked out some of our favourite events.
Riverside Museum
At Riverside Museum, you'll find dozens of free activities for all ages on offer. Within the themes of transport, engineering and technology, there will be plenty of maths involved. Test your spatial skills building LEGO, try build your own perfectly balanced bridge, act out a comedy script with a robot and more! Activities change daily, so check the timetable before you visit.
Daily from Thursday 6th to Sunday 16th June, 11am - 3pm. Free, no booking required.
Glasgow Botanic Gardens
Drop by Kibble Palace at Glasgow Botanic Gardens for loads of free activities suitable for all ages. Of particular interest to us was the wind turbines workshop with students from the University of Glasgow - Why are most wind turbines designed with only 3 blades? Get creative in the Germs Galore culture lab, drive an underwater robot in Oban and learn about evolution while playing classic fairground games with a twist. Activities change daily, so check the timetable before you visit.
Friday 7th to Thursday 16th June, 11am - 3pm. Free, no booking required.
Westfest
Engineers from the Institution of Civil Engineering and volunteers from Glasgow Science Festival will bring fun, on the spot science to enjoy alongside the music at WestFest. Activity include testing your engineering skills by trying to prop up the leaning tower of Pisa.
Sun 9 June, 11am - 2pm at Kelvingrove Bandstand. Free, no booking required.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum
Find the Glasgow Science Festival team in the centre hall at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, with free activities linked to the collections and the theme Glasgow’s Transforming. Go on a treasure hunt, explore the world with virtual reality, play a rocket launch game and more.
