Many science centres, museums and art galleries across the country take part in Maths Week Scotland, including some who offer maths activities at their sites all year round.

Nature Walk

Whether you live in an urban or rural area, a nature walk is a perfect activity for families to teach children about directional language, and to practise map reading skills.

A scavenger shape hunt is a simple yet effective way for early learners to start recognising shapes in the world around them, and to learn their names.

2026 Maths Week Scotland Theme

Maths Week Scotland will take place 19 September - 27 September 2026 for an extended week, to mark our tenth anniversary, with the theme Maths Matters. For this special occasion we will be exploring why maths matters in our daily lives, including our society and culture, our world of work, our health and wellbeing, and our environment.
