Data-themed Escape Rooms

Learners will become Trainee Agents of DATA to defend Scotland against the villainous high-tech VIKINGS! They will solve puzzles to defeat the evil time-travelling villains and foil their dastardly plans. The Agents will have to use graphs, charts, maps and logic to uncover the plots and crack the secret codes. Along the way they are introduced to the basics of internet infrastructure, data centres, cybersecurity, and other digital and data skills topics.

Games about mathematicians

Best suited for Second Level

The Parent Council at Anderston Primary School have created a series of games about 7 amazing mathematicians, including Annie Easley, Katherine Johnson, Maryam Mirzakhani, Florence Nightingale, Chika Ofili, Srinivasa Ramanujan, and Wang Zhenyi.

Each game should take around 20 minutes to play and can be done using the free Escape Team app or simply solved on paper (although an adult will be needed to check the codes are correct!)

Maths Code Game

Best suited for First and Second Level

For Maths Week Scotland 2019, Anderston Primary School in Glasgow created a Maths Code Game that you can play at school or at home, no matter where you live. You will need a mobile phone with the free Escape Team app installed.

Access the game, some maths trails to do locally in Glasgow, plus tips on how to create your own, via the Anderston Primary School website below.

Funding for the trails came from the Maths Week Scotland Small Grants Fund. Content for the day developed by school staff with support from the Parent Council.

Numberella: Kidnapped by the Meltz

The year is 2099. Numberella, Ronnie Resist and The Thief are in downtown Probabilium. Suddenly a space ship pulls up and emits a cloud of nerve gas. They fall to the ground, motionless. Hooded figures jump out and bundle them inside… Numberella, Ronnie and The Thief have been kidnapped by The Meltz! Your mission is to help the three friends escape the space ship and return safely to Earth. Buckle up, get your maths brains in gear and let’s go!
