Bauble Drawing Game
Activity Type: Game; Drawing
Best suited for: Early, First & Second Level / Age 0-4, 5-7, 8-11
Maths involved: shapes, patterns
Materials needed:
- Drawing paper or a print out of our Bauble Template per child
- Pens
- A die
- If using the template, an extra piece of paper
- Scissors
- Sticky tape
Instructions
In this non-competitive drawing game, children can explore shapes and patterns.
Step 1: Download the Bauble template from our website and print off one copy per child/ player. Or, if you want to avoid printing, draw the outline of a bauble on to your sheet of paper to start.
Step 2: Cut six small pieces of paper to cover the sides of your die and draw a different shape or pattern on to each. We went with circle, triangle, square for shapes, and a zig zag line, a wavy line, and two parallel lines for the patterns. Attach these to the sides of your die with sticky tape.
Step 3: The children/ players take it in turn to roll the die and add the shape or pattern they have rolled to their bauble. For an added challenge, you could try creating repeating or symmetrical patterns.
Keep playing until you are happy with the design of your bauble (or until you run out of space).
