Decorate-a-Tree Race

Activity Type: Game

Best suited for: First & Second Level / Age 5-7, 8-11

Maths involved: number recognition, counting, addition

Materials needed:

  • One tree shape per player, cut from paper or card
  • One large star shape
  • Beads or buttons to use a baubles/ playing pieces
  • A die

How to Play

There are two ways to play.

Variation 1: Best of Five

Players take it in turns to roll the die, and place the number of baubles that they have rolled on their tree.

The player with the most baubles after five rounds is the winner, and gets to place the star on their tree.

Variation 2: First to Twenty

Players again take it in turns to roll the die and place baubles on their tree.

The winner is the first player to get to twenty.
