Gingerbread Maths

Maths involved: counting
Materials needed:
- Brown paper, card or foam
- Our gingerbread template
- A ballpoint pen
- Scissors
- A black marker pen
- 15 large buttons
Instructions
In this simple counting activity with a seasonal twist, early learners can match the buttons to the gingerbread shapes to count from 1 to 5.
Step 1: Draw around the template and cut out five gingerbread shapes.
Step 2: Draw a pair of eyes on to each gingerbread shape.
Step 3: Add the numbers 1 to 5 at the top of the gingerbread shapes.
Step 4: Children can now decorate the gingerbread, by adding the matching number of buttons to each.
WARNING: Small items like buttons can be a choking hazard, so please supervise young children when doing this activity.
