Legends, Myths and Maths: A Journey Through Scotland

Join author David Macphail at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, to explore the myths, legends, wildlife and landscapes of Scotland, with hidden maths. A fun and interactive talk for families presented by Maths Week Scotland.
Did you know dinosaurs roamed the Isle of Skye 165 million years ago? Or that Scotland’s crown jewels were once hidden in a toilet? Join author David Macphail to explore the myths, legends, wildlife and landscapes of Scotland, with hidden maths. This fun and interactive talk for families is presented by Maths Week Scotland, which this year explores 'Wild Maths: the maths all around us'.
There will be a book signing following the talk, with an opportunity to buy the book "An Amazing Illustrated Atlas of Scotland" at the venue, or bring your own David Macphail book from home!
All children attending will also receive a free badge, featuring our Maths Week Scotland mascot Finn Finity, and you can extend your visit with the new Wild Maths trail around the museum which is being launched for Maths Week.
The event is aimed at families, and is best suited for children of primary school age.
The Author: David MacPhail is the author of the Lollies-shortlisted Thorfinn the Nicest Viking series, the Top-Secret Grandad series, the Velda the Awesomest Viking series, An Amazing Illustrated Atlas of Scotland and An Amazing History Atlas of Scotland. He lives in Perthshire, Scotland.
