Maths at Groam House: Picts, Patterns & Probability

Rosemarkie 1st-30th Sep 1.00pm-4.00pm Free

Come and explore the fascinating world of the Picts through maths and puzzles at Groam House Museum! This event is designed for primary school pupils (mainly CfE Level 2 and upper primary) and their families.

Children will decode Pictish Ogham inscriptions, design cross-slabs using symmetry and geometric patterns, explore timelines and scale, and test their luck with dice and knucklebones games.

Activities include a six-page activity book, with a historical timeline, quizzes & games, all packed with fun maths covering coding, decoding, counting, patterns, probability and more. A special materials box will be available to support hands-on learning during your visit.

This is a great opportunity to combine history, puzzles and creative design — all while discovering Rosemarkie’s unique Pictish heritage!
