Maths Inside 2023 Photography Competition

Photography day 2023 header

It’s World Photography Day today, which is a perfect excuse to tell you about this year’s maths inside photography competition.

Maths inside is a photo competition open to everyone in Scotland, which encourages you to look for the maths in your daily lives and the world around you – in your home, at work or at school, on your exercise route or daily dog walk, during your weekly shop or a trip to the playground…this is your chance to get creative and make mathematical connections!

Each year there are different categories to get you inspired , and this year's categories are: oot an’ aboot, the ‘why’ of shapes, and in motion. You can enter up to three photos, one per category. As well as an overall winner for each category, there will also be winners in six different age levels, from pre-school children through to adults, so it really is something that all ages can get involved in.

Submit your photos with the maths inside sticker on them to enter the competition. You can enter up to three photos, one per category. Entries will be accepted from Friday 1st September until 11:59pm on Monday 16th October 2023 (please note new extended deadline!), with an online prize ceremony at 11am on Saturday 4th November. So, you've got a couple of weeks to start planning your entries, ready to submit in September.

Visit the maths inside website for further details about the competition, information on how to submit your entries, and the full terms & conditions. One really important rule to highlight, is that your photos can’t already have been published anywhere, including on social media. So if you’ve snapped an entry you’re really proud of, don't be tempted to share it on Twitter or Instagram or you might end up being disqualified!
