#ShowYourWorking Campaign 2025

Show Your Working 02 04

In the run up to and during Maths Week Scotland 2025, we’re asking people from all industries to help show that maths is everywhere and highlight the importance of maths in all careers - from athletes to artists, and from horticulturists to hairdressers.

How to get involved

  1. Think about examples of how maths is used in your industry. Bonus points for examples that will be a surprise to others!

  2. Share your examples on social media during Maths Week Scotland between 22 September and 28 September 2025. Video? Photo? Animation? You decide! Don’t forget to use #MathsWeekScot AND #ShowYourWorking.

We’ll be highlighting our favourite examples throughout the week. The less obvious the better!

  3. Nominate a friend or colleague to do the same and help make sure all industries are represented as part of Maths Week Scotland 2025.

We’re looking forward to seeing how you use maths in your job all throughout #MathsWeekScot and showing young people how the skills they are learning now will be put into practice in the future.

#ShowYourWorking for Schools

Here are some further ideas for schools, on how to take part in the #ShowYourWorking campaign:

  • Check out our #ShowYourWorking Resource Pack for schools, which includes downloadable postcards featuring over two dozen different jobs (see examples below), and links to #ShowYourWorking videos shared in recent years.
  • Research how maths in used in other jobs and share your examples in class. You could create a #ShowYourWorking class display.
  • Invite parents to share examples, either by creating their own postcards with the templates from the campaign pack (see above) or inviting them to talk to pupils in class or at assembly.
  • Follow #ShowYourWorking on social media during Maths Week Scotland for more examples to inspire your class. We will be sharing on Bluesky and Facebook.

Here are some examples from previous years, from our Resource Pack, to get you started:
