Finn Finity meets...

Best suited for Second and Third Level

In these resources for Second and Third Level students, our 'mathscot' Finn Finity, meets five mathematicians from Scotland.

Meet: John Napier, who discovered logarithms; Eleanor Pairman, who improved access for blind people to mathematical texts; Sheila Scott Macintyre, who translated mathematical works written in German; Mary Somerville, who wrote several books on mathematics, astronomy and the sciences; and finally, D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson, who used mathematics to explain biological shapes (morphogenesis).

Each resource includes curriculum links to highlight where the resource might be used to support either Level 2 or Level 3, with a brief section at the end suggesting how the themes can be extended or revisited. Some cross-curricular links are suggested too.
