Pawsome Maths!

We are so excited about this year's online Collie Dog Maths Tales event series, in which five border collies will take the lead in a series of online maths lessons created by the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET).
Collie Dog Maths Tales will introduce Scottish primary school children to real maths problems on farms across Scotland. These events are part of our Maths Week Scotland programme, which runs from 23 - 29 September 2024.

In each session, children will join a different collie for a virtual walk around farms in Aberdeenshire, Loch Lomond, Argyll, Stirling and the Highlands, learning about the maths and science they encounter along the way. The pups will explore the ways maths is used for growing crops, herding sheep, caring for chickens and milking cows.
There will be four Collie Dog Maths Tales sessions for primary schools - two for Early & First Level (Wednesday 25 September and Tuesday 1 October), and two for Second Level (Thursday 26 September and Thursday 3 October), all at 11am. Sessions are free but registration is required. You can find our more details about each of the school sessions, and register to attend, on our Collie Dog Maths Tales for Schools page.
A public session is also planned for 9am on Sunday 6 October, when families enjoying breakfast together will discover where the milk in their cereal comes from together. As for the schools sessions, this is free but requires registration. You can sign up at Collie Maths Tales: Jura & Emily.

Our mascot Finn Finity has already been for a wee visit to meet farmer Ali and collie dog Pip, and gave Collie Dog Maths Tales his seal of approval. We hope you enjoy them too!
