Maths Week Scotland 2024: What's On for Schools
We've rounded up this year's Maths Week Scotland events for schools in a handy, day-by-day overview. The programme is a mix of mix of both online and in-person events. Most events take place during our gala week, 23 September to 27 September, but there are a few events that start earlier or take place later. We will be updating this overview as more events are confirmed, so do keep checking back!
Challenges & Competitions
Please note: A few of our competitions kick off before 23 September!
- 1 September - 30 September: Maths Inside Scotland wide photography competition for all ages
- 2 September - 4 October: Climate Calculations Challenge for Secondary Schools run by the Royal Meteorological Society
- 2 September - 11 October: Maths Tales story writing contest for Primary Schools in partnership with Read Write Count with The First Minister
- 9 September - 13 October: 0maths Escape Room; win a premium subscription to 0Maths for a year (best suited for Second Level)
- 16 September to 14 October: Maths Wi Nae Borders mini-competition for any class to complete together (aimed at Secondary Schools but younger entrants welcome)
- 20 September to 26 September: Sumdog online maths contest for schools
- 23 September to 29 September: Maths Week Scotland Daily Challenge, with the Scottish Mathematical Council and BBC Bitesize (suitable for upper primary & early secondary)
- 24 September to 26 September: Scotland Rocks times tables competition for schools
